The Memphis Grizzlies and Los Angeles Lakers were tied through three quarters at Crypto.com Arena on Jan. 2.
While the Grizzlies started to cool off, the Lakers kept putting points on the board. Memphis battled, but Lakers stars LeBron James and Luka Doncic were too much.
The Grizzlies loss 128-121 to the Lakers.
Memphis (15-19) has lost three games in a row.
James and Doncic both surpassed 30 points for the Lakers (21-11). Doncic led all scorers with 34 points, and James added 31.
Jaren Jackson Jr. led the Grizzlies with 25 points. Ja Morant secured his sixth double-double this season, finishing with 16 points and 11 assists.
Memphis will be back in action on Jan. 4 on the road again versus the Lakers.

Memphis continues to get strong production from its bench. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope scored 12 of his 18 points in the third quarter to get the Grizzlies back in the game.

Memphis went on an 18-0 run after falling behind by 15 points in the second quarter, but the Lakers close the quarter strong to go up by six. The difference has been in the starters and reserves. Memphis outscoring the Lakers 37-13 in bench points, but the Grizzlies aren't getting much production from their starters.
